Stop paying those unfair hidden merchant account fees

Hello, my name is Frank Stoczko with Team NCTY, Inc.

We represent a group of businesses called: MAUI (Merchants Against Unfair Interchange). We are NOT a bank, we do NOT require you to change your merchant account provider, processing company or credit card equipment.

MAUI looks out for businesses like yours by preventing unfair CC charging policies like those you experience every day, and don’t even see.

Did you know that over 90% of merchants (like yourself) are being charged substantial, hidden interchange fees that are unregulated and have increased on you twice a year since 2002?

Unlike the calls you receive every day by those looking to change your rate and save you a few bucks; we help our clients save thousands… or MORE monthly, depending on their processing volume. We are over 2,600+ Business members strong, and would love the opportunity to show you these types of savings for your business.

Best of all….. we do not make one cent until we show you savings.

Traditional model

• The more you make, the more they take

• The merchant service industry derives profit margins from your processing volume

With MAUI

• The less they take, the more we make and return to you

• 100% of our compensation comes from the savings you can measure

• We are compensated by how much money we help you save

Benefits of working with us:

• Reduced costs without switching processors

• Interchange management ‐ without the effort

• Fraud and Charge back protection ‐ without the hassle

• Your own team of experts ‐ without the expense

Call us at 215-230-4668 or, better yet, send a recent merchant account statement to:

We’ll do a quick no cost, no obligation analysis and let you know how much we believe we can save you.

Understanding Merchant Account Fees Part Two: Normal Credit Card Fees

There are several fees that are normally charged to merchants who work with service providers. By having a good understanding of those merchant account fees, you will be able to more quickly spot any hidden fees that have been attached to your statement.

It is becoming more common for Independent Sales Organizations (ISOs) to provide credit card processing services and the majority of merchants use these providers. The provider processes transactions, bears the risk of chargebacks, provides technical support and sets the price of the services provided.

The Discount Rate is a percentage that is charged on the individual transactions that you make. Discount rates vary depending on the way that you process transactions. Merchants also pay for processing each transaction which can be up to 20 cents for swiped cards or 30 cents for transactions that are keyed into an alternate system.

If you have a Pinpad attached to your system, you will pay a PIN Debit Transaction Fee. This rate is a fixed fee that ranges from 20 cents to 70 cents. Some providers will charge the lowest rate possible, then attach a debit network fee.

An Address Verification Service Transaction fee (AVS) is commonly included as a part of the transaction rate. This rate ranges from 5 to 10 cents and is charged if you key transactions into an alternate system.

When you settle a batch and transfer the funds to your bank account, you are charged a Daily Batch Fee. The rate for this service is 5 to 50 cents each time you process a batch.

You will pay a Monthly Statement Fee for support, customer service, and the monthly statement. This is normally $10 to $15 a month and is a flat fee. Some providers charge a lower rate, but do not provide the level of support that you need, so it is important to know what the rate is paying for.

The Internet Gateway Fee is normally billed by the gateway provider and may be as high as $30 monthly. The fee may be charged as part of the per-transaction charges, in which case the total will appear on your statement as in the “per-transaction” charges.

When you use an 800 number to call transactions in, you will be charged a Voice Authorization Fee. This rate will vary from 75 cents-$1.50 for each voice authorization made. This service is normally maintained by merchants as an alternative way to process transactions if their swipe system becomes disabled.

A Monthly Minimum Fee is normally an amount set by the provider. If the minimum is not met, the difference is paid by the merchant. The minimum rate should be clearly stated in your contract.

The Surcharge Fee is also referred to as a Non-Qualified or Partially-Qualified Fee. This is a 0.5% to 2.5% surcharge that applies to Tier 2 and Tier 3 categories such as business or corporate cards.

Some of these costs are charged on a per-transaction basis, while other are charged on a monthly basis. When you have an understanding of merchant account fees, it will be easier to identify issues with rates and contact your service provider with the information required when a discrepancy occurs.
